Vaginal Nerviness and What I would Say Differently If I Made This Movie Now
Although I still clearly assert that stimulation of the vagina has never been shown to cause orgasm, if I were to remake the movie, I would soften and update my wording about the nerviness (or lack thereof) of the vagina.
A Reply to a Reply: My Continuing Discussion with Skeptic Edward Clint
My response in a debate with Edward Clint to a response he gave about my critique of a post he did on his blog. We’re talking about whether vaginal orgasm are a given reality and if the 70’s feminist point of view on the lack of vaginal orgasms should be painted as extreme.
Rocks and Glass Houses - Skeptic Ink Article Ain't So Skeptical
I respond to an article by Edward Clint about scientific writing about a lady-gasm article. He does some comparing of Freud and bad-ass on-point feminists of the 70’s that I find utterly incorrect.
Wired, The By-product Theory of Female Orgasm, A Twin Study, and Scientists Being Thick
Wired magazine tells us that a twin study about orgasm is a problem for the byproduct theory of orgasm…but I read that twin study…it’s kind of a shit study and Wired is wrong.
The Case of the Female Orgasm: An SSL Book Review
I discuss the book “The case of the Female Orgasm: Bias in the Study of Evolution” by Elisabeth A. Lloyd. I love it’s nitty gritty philosophy of science stylings.
Masters of Sex: My Thoughts On The First Episode
It might come as a surprise, but the Masters of Sex series about Masters and Johnson’s groundbreaking orgasm research is, well. not so accurate of a depiction.
My Take On Masters of Sex - The Book Not The TV Series
I listened to Masters of Sex - the book that inspired the TV series, and I have some thoughts. It’s an interesting read.
Rest Easy Virginia Johnson; You Made A Good Mark On Our World
Virginia Johnson, the better (if you ask me) half of the groundbreaking orgasm research duo, has died. She was pretty awesome.
I Guess Thinking Myself To Orgasm Would Be Nice, But....
A bad pop science article saying there has been a study showing women can think themselves to orgasm with no citations about what that study is, and quotes from ol’ Dr. Komisaruk related to a book he co-authored that has no such research inside (I read it).
Oxytocin, Orgasm, Muscle Contractions, and Blood - A Journal Article I Read
A detailed, but (mostly) plainly worded summary of a scientific journal article called " Relationships Among Cardiovascular, Muscular, and Oxytocin Responses During Human Sexual Activity." My goal here is to give more people an opportunity to engage with peer reviewed research about female orgasm and hopefully incorporate it more into our culture understanding.
Critiquing "The Online World of Female Desire," a Wall Street Journal ArticleThat Ain't So Sophisticated
An article called, “The Online World of Female Desire,” in the Wall Street Journal online takes a bunch of unacceptable liberties with experimental design and scientific conclusions. It also calls the female brain thinking about sex, ‘The Miss Marple Detective Agency,’ so check out more on that…
Crappy Science Reporting With Their Outrageous, Alarming Titles Piss Me Off
“Too often, a mostly level-headed, peer reviewed scientific study is discovered by the pop media, and we the public get a shock title that either has nothing to do with the content of the actual study or highlights a tiny mention of future goals or related possibilities that the scientists who wrote the study by no means endorse in the study. “
